For three decades the Visiting International Professional Program has served as the home for international visiting scholars and professionals at Michigan State University. VIPP partners with subject experts from MSU and beyond to provide transformative learning experiences and high-quality exchange opportunities to professionals around the world.

A legacy of excellence in international exchange

Since hosting its first group of civil servants from Korea in 1991, VIPP has grown into an integral part of International Studies and Programs at MSU, with 4000 alumni from around the globe. Today, VIPP offers a diverse portfolio of programs, and welcomes more than 500 visiting professionals to MSU’s campus every year. VIPP participants represent a wide variety of disciplines, and over 30 countries.

As our rapidly changing world continues to challenge our skills and knowledge, life-long professional training and international exchange are becoming even more critical for the modern workforce. The continued support of opportunities for social and cultural exchange is vital to the success of our global society. VIPP is excited to be at the forefront of this effort,” said Dr. Wu.

A year of celebration and reflection

In honor of the 30th anniversary, VIPP launched a new brand with a commemorative 30th anniversary logo in February, as well as a new program brochure to showcase VIPP’s diverse programs and offerings.

To commemorate its anniversary, VIPP will host a variety of virtual celebratory events throughout 2021 including signature lectures, a video premiere, sharing of memories, and alumni award nominations. To kick off the year-long celebration, VIPP will hold a virtual anniversary celebration on March 26, featuring VIPP founding director Dr. Dae-bong Kwon, a leader in international education and the 16th President of JEI University, South Korea.
